The Golden Age and the Jordaan™

From Rags to Riches, Literally

Synopsis. See Amsterdam’s 17th century architecture along its famous canal belt and the Jordaan, once the poorest part of town and now the most desired. Both areas are entirely artificial–elegance and craftsmanship resting on a swamp. View mansions, secret gardens, houseboats on magical canals, and famous markets (Saturdays and Mondays).

The Dutch Golden Age spanned a century of world-renowned commerce, art, science, and military prowess…and also religious turmoil, clandestine churches, and remarkable innovation amid elements of social control. In 2010, UNESCO added Amsterdam’s gorgeous canal ring to its list of treasures. Come see why!
