Quintessential Amsterdam™

The Grand Walking Tour

Synopsis. A perfect walking tour for a full orientation of the old city center. Its old façades and cobblestones tell stories spanning from 1000 A.D. until today. For centuries, Amsterdam has maintained a beauty and authenticity recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Topics during this tour span 800 years of art, architecture, seafaring, religion, and a truly unique history featuring some notorious characters: Rembrandt,  Anne Frank, Napoleon Bonaparte, Peter the Great, kings, queens, rebels, and pirates! And if you love food like we do, we always make time to sample street food and drinks along the way.

Areas. The Quintessential Tour roams off the beaten path. But it also covers highlights like Dam Square (de Dam), the Old Church, New Market (Nieuwmarkt), the old Jewish Quarter (Joodse Buurt), Portuguese Synagogue, Rembrandt’s House, the Amstel River, Rembrandt Square (Rembrandtplein), the Flower Market (Bloemenmarkt), the 17th century canals, the Anne Frank Huis and more–if you’re good walkers!
